Olympic Peninsula Tour
Aug 7, 2012
Our first extended tour was our first trip with “Skye”, our (then new) travel
tandem
The plan was to ride from Michal and Sarah’s place in Seattle to the ferry, take
the ferry to Bainbridge Island, and then ride around the Olympic Peninsula,
meeting them at Rialto Beach the next weekend.
This adventure went largely according to plan, though there were a lot of flat
tires, logging roads, and lumberjack fare along the way.
Ready to start, dressed for Seattle sunshine
Seattle-Brainbridge ferry is part of some cyclists’ commute to the city each morning
Looking good after the first day
Despite the lack of rain, clothes still needed to be wrung out
Skye spends the night indoors. Dry saddles are the best
Rainy start to the second day
Rain passed. Street fruit is fair game along state highways!
Welcome to Olympic National Forest
…and Olmpic National Park
Cookie Monster is back for a lap around Lake Quinault
Foggy morning for our final day of riding
Early arrival at the finish, ready for a weekend of camping on the beach with Michal, Sarah, Theo, and Vivian
